What is Linkana’s Micro and Small Business Indicator (MPE)?

Linkana’s Micro and Small Business Indicator (MPE) identifies and classifies companies as small businesses based on their company size and legal entity type.

The classification is derived from official CNPJ records maintained by the Brazilian Federal Revenue (Receita Federal do Brasil) and follows the criteria established by Complementary Law No. 123/2006.

Type

Size

Annual Revenue

Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI)

Micro

R$ 0 to R$ 81,000

Microenterprise (ME)

R$ 0 to R$ 360,000

Small Business (EPP)

Small

More than R$ 360,000 and up to R$ 4.8 million

Exclusion Criteria for the MPE Indicator

A company will be excluded from Linkana’s MPE classification if any of the following apply:

  • CNPJ Status ≠ Active
Companies with a suspended, inactive, canceled, or disqualified CNPJ are not considered.

  • Legal Nature ≠ Eligible for private ownership
We exclude public agencies, state-owned enterprises, foundations, and other legal types that cannot be privately owned or controlled by individuals.

  • Shareholders and Administrators ≠ Natural Persons
Companies owned or controlled by legal entities or governmental bodies are not eligible.
